La boutique

How lovely are these boutiques/shops here in Avignon!  Just by looking from the window is good enough for me as retail therapy. :-)

Of course, my other favorite store - H&M.  The only store I can afford here in France.  :-)

On Sunday night I found out that I was scheduled to have two days off - for Monday and Tuesday.  I should've known, I could've planned something.  I hate wasting days off especially two consecutive days.  So Sunday night I decided to go to Rome - just like that! :-)  The next day my lovely roommate dropped me off at the bus station.  I took the bus to Avignon train station.  I didn't have a concrete plan,  because I didn't get a chance to research online.  Not sure where to stay or where to get off.  When I arrived at the train station, I was so disappointed because there was no train to go directly to Rome.  Well, I guess I still don't know how the train works.  I played this differently in my mind but this is a good learning experience for me.

So I picked Toulon from the screen board, bought my tickets and hopped on.  I hate impromptus as I spend more money that way.  I am a planner, I like to plan things ahead of time.

But it turned out to be a good day.  I walked around Place de la Liberté,  I went inside the shops and took a bus towards the water.  I could not tell you how much I miss the beach.  It was nice and breezy when arrived in Mourillon.  I had a relaxing walk - just what I needed.

On Friday I went to Plais des Papes in Avignon -  about 40 minutes by bus.  When I arrived in Avignon, I didn't know where to go so I asked the lady who came out from the same bus.  Her name was Francine.  She spoke English very well and a little bit of Spanish.  She showed me the way as she was  going to the same place. (Parfait!)

Outside the Plais des Papes there was a small garden.   Up on the top was overlooking Saint Bénezet Bridge and Rhône River.   After my walk,  I ate at L'opera café, where my new friend Francine recommended.   The place was a bit modern - American music was being played when I walked in.  I ordered the La plat du selon le detour du marché {dish of the day according to the market product} -  I had white fish with sautéed vegetables and brown rice.

That was délicieux!
